Cascade hops, developed by the USDA in Oregon in 1972, are a key ingredient in many U.S. beers, epitomizing the flavour of American Pale Ale. Known for their citrusy, grapefruit-like aroma due to high myrcene levels, they have moderate alpha acid content (4.5%–7%) and are prized for their aromatic qualities.
